Mission
To transform the steel reinforcement industry by accelerating the use of automation and robotics to build a better future.
Vision
GMT Robotics is the global market leader in automation and robotics in the steel reinforcement industry.
GMT Robotics was founded by Ulrich Deichmann and Thomas Dall-Hansen with a shared vision to automate and modernize the rebar industry.
Drawing on decades of industry experience, Ulrich provided the technical foundation, while Thomas contributed strategic, commercial, and legal expertise.
Together, they built a company focused on robotic welding solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and safety in construction. As GMT Robotics grew internationally, Thomas played a central role in shaping its market position and long-term strategy.
With Ulrich Deichmann now retired, he has appointed Thomas Dall-Hansen as CEO, entrusting him to lead GMT Robotics into its next phase of growth and innovation.
In 2010, Ulrich Deichmann left Pedax, a rebar manufacturer he had helped build since the 1980s. Ulrich stayed in the industry he had helped shape by buying and selling second-hand rebar equipment through a company he founded called “German Machine Trade” (GMT).
Later renamed “Global Machine Technics”, GMT has become the world’s leading reseller of refurbished rebar equipment.
In 2015, Thomas Dall-Hansen joined Ulrich at GMT. After travelling the world and learning about the global rebar industry, he realized that the industry was begging for innovation to unlock its potential.
Automation is the innovation the industry needs, not in rebar steel processing but in the dangerous and inefficient handling and assembly of rebar.
In 2018, Thomas and Ulrich started to investigate rebar and other markets and looked outside the industry for solutions which could be adopted, modified and implemented into the rebar industry.
With input and advice from clients, suppliers, software developers, robot manufacturers and others, the 4 core products were born: “WeldMate”, “PickMate”, “Micro ARCAS” and “Dwall ARCAS”.
In 2020, GMT Robotics was established, and in 2021, our brilliant, innovative and amazing team started manufacturing and marketing all four solutions.
In 2023, GMT Robotics introduces new product “Mega WeldMate”.
In 2025, “Coupler Buddy” proof of concept was developed, and product launch is expected to be in 2026.
