The Story of GMT Robotics

GMT Robotics (Genius Machine Technology Robotics) is built on 35+ years of manufacturing and marketing experience in rebar.

GMT Robotics provides cutting-edge robotic solutions that revolutionize the way rebar cages are manufactured. Our state-of-the-art automation technology transforms the industry by replacing manual labor-intensive methods with precision-driven robotic systems.

Mission
To transform the steel reinforcement industry by accelerating the use of automation and robotics to build a better future.

Vision
GMT Robotics is the global market leader in automation and robotics in the steel reinforcement industry.

Pioneers of GMT Robotics

Ulrich Deichmann

Ulrich began his career in the rebar industry in 1986 as a partner at Stema Engineering, where he played a pivotal role in introducing some of the first automatic stirrup machines on the market, operating directly from coil.

He assumed leadership at Stema until its merger with Peddinghausin Germany in 1997, resulting in both companies operating under the name Stema/Pedax.

In early 2010, he founded GMT, specializing in the refurbishment and trading of second-hand rebar machinery, and in 2020, he co-founded GMT Robotics.

Thomas Dall-Hansen

Thomas Dall-Hansen joined GMT in 2015 as a Sales Manager. Despite his background in obtaining a Master's degree in law, Thomas possesses exceptional technical proficiency.

He spearheaded the initiation of the new era of automatic robotic cage assembly systems, underscoring his pivotal role as a co-founder of GMT Robotics.

Thomas continues to drive the advancement of technical solutions while overseeing the company’s sales operations.

Timeline and history

In 2010, Ulrich Deichmann left Pedax, a rebar manufacturer he had helped build since the 1980s. Ulrich stayed in the industry he had helped shape by buying and selling second-hand rebar equipment through a company he founded called “German Machine Trade” (GMT).

Later renamed “Global Machine Trade”, GMT has become the world’s leading reseller of refurbished rebar equipment.

In 2015, Thomas Dall-Hansen joined Ulrich at GMT. After travelling the world and learning about the global rebar industry, he realized that the industry was begging for innovation to unlock its potential.

Automation is the innovation the industry needs, not in rebar steel processing but in the dangerous and inefficient handling and assembly of rebar.

In 2018, Thomas and Ulrich started to investigate rebar and other markets and looked outside the industry for solutions which could be adopted, modified and implemented into the rebar industry.

With input and advice from clients, suppliers, software developers, robot manufacturers and others, the 4 core products were born: “WeldMate”, “PickMate”, “Micro ARCAS” and “Dwall ARCAS”.

In 2020, GMT Robotics was established, and in 2021, our brilliant, innovative and amazing team started manufacturing and marketing all four solutions.

In 2023, GMT Robotics introduces new product “Mega WeldMate”.

In 2025, “Coupler Buddy” proof of concept was developed, and product launch is expected to be in 2026.
